1 ISO ppm is based on the new print international standard for measuring print speed. Black and color print
speeds are determined in default, single-sided mode, in accordance with ISO/IEC 24734. Actual print times will
vary based on system configuration, software, and page complexity. See www.epson.com/printspeed for details,
including complete ISO reports.
2 Cost per page is the combined cost of black and three colors, derived from the ink cartridge MSRP divided by
cartridge yield. Cartridge yields are based on continuous printing of a suite of five black and color pages as
equired by ISO/IEC 24712. Actual yields will vary considerably for reasons including images printed, print settings,
temperature and humidity. Yields may be lower when printing infrequently or predominantly with one ink color. A
variable amount of ink remains in the cartridges after the “Replace cartridge” signal. Part of the ink from the first
cartridges is used for priming the printer. Ink is used for both printing and print head maintenance. All inks are used
for both black and color printing. Both the B-510DN and B-310N ship with standard-capacity ink cartridges. For
more information about yields, see www.epson.com/cartridgeinfo
3 Monthly duty cycle is the highest duty a user could expect in a month, based on near-constant operation of a
device of this kind. It is not recommended that the device be run at this duty. For best device performance, run
the device at the recommended duty.

neutral, warm, cool, or sepia – and use custom slider bars and a color tone wheel for advanced control. In addition,
customized settings can be saved and recalled to achieve consistent prints.

technology allows this compact, professional printer to optimize working space while producing exhibition quality

reliable ink delivery at all print speeds.

the manufacturing stage to ensure consistent color output, eliminating the need for internal calibration devices.

In 2009, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) – the world’s largest developer and publisher of
international standards – introduced an official standard used to measure print speeds on ink jet printers. Epson
formally adopted the ISO/IEC 24734 measurement, which is designed to give consumers an “apples-to-apples”
speed comparison across all printer manufacturers. The ISO specification provides the actual print files that
include a mix of Word, Excel and PDF, representing what consumers typically print. ISO guidelines require that
the tests are conducted using printers’ “out of the box” driver settings since they are generally the most commonly
used by consumers.
The WorkForce 310 offers a competitive black ISO speed of 16 PPM and color ISO speed of 5.5 PPM. More
information about ISO is available at http://www.iso.org/, and details regarding Epson print speed measurements,
including complete ISO reports are available at www.epson.com/printspeed.

Year-End Tech and Tax Tips for Smart Small Businesses
Black Friday and Cyber Monday Sales Combined with Historically High IRS Write-offs Make End of 2008 Ideal
Time for Small Businesses to Invest in New Digital Technology
LONG BEACH, Calif., Nov. 24, 2008 – Successful small business owners are constantly balancing the need to
invest in new productivity-enhancing technology with the impact on their bottom lines. But between now and the
end of the year, with the help of two unrelated economic factors – increased IRS Section 179 deductions and the
growing importance of “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” – the decision to purchase that new high-speed color
printer, multimedia projector, high-speed document scanner or virtually any other tech product, may just be a little
easier.
A change in the 2008 Federal Tax Code has resulted in historically high allowable write-offs of tangible property;
property that generally includes that much needed printer, scanner or digital projector. Black Friday and Cyber
Monday, the Friday and Monday immediately following Thanksgiving (this year November 28 and December 1),
signal the kick-off by consumer electronic and office product retailers of their most aggressive marketing programs
of the year. The combination of these two factors may result in small businesses being able to purchase new
digital products at the very best prices of the year.
“Every small business owner I work with is looking to make every dollar invested payoff,” said Barry Drake,
president, Drake Business Services, Inc., a San Jose, Calif.-based accounting firm. “Taking advantage of this
year’s IRS Section 179 write-offs is generally a smart move, however, it’s only smart if its being used to purchase
products that will help grow the company or help it operate more efficiently.”
Epson America, a leading provider of digital image capture and image output products, understands the unique
demands of small business and has designed products to deliver the optimum combination of image quality,
performance and ease-of-use features that meet a wide range of mission-critical needs:

and a built-in 30-page automatic document feeder (ADF) to quickly copy and scan, as well as fax black and color
documents.
-- High-Quality Multimedia Presenting – The Epson EX70 ($799*) multimedia projector delivers widescreen WXGA
resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio, instant USB Plug n’ Play video and HDMI all-digital connectivity for high-definition
quality video and digital audio from just one cable. The Epson EX70 also offers photo slideshow functionality via

designed to satisfy the printing, scanning, copying, and faxing needs of any busy household. Joining the popular
Epson Stylus® NX400, the new Epson Stylus NX300, NX200 and NX100 offer an ideal combination of easy-to-use
features, outstanding performance, and creative tools coupled with brilliant results on plain, photo or specialty
papers with Epson’s reliable, all-pigment DURABrite® Ultra inks for prints that dry instantly, are smudge and water
resistant, and are highlighter-friendly.
“The entry-level Epson Stylus NX series is designed to meet basic printing needs of busy and creative households,
especially those looking for products loaded with features to print, scan, copy, and even fax, and that are easy on
the wallet,” said Kristi Lanzit Fox, product manager, Consumer Ink Jets, Epson. “All of the products in the Epson
Stylus NX series offer more impressive features, superior quality and performance, and an overall better value
compared to any of the competitive products at the same price points, including fast print speeds, high quality
scanners, and a larger LCD on the Epson NX400.”
The flagship Epson Stylus NX400 offers remarkable print and copy speeds, delivering up to 34 pages per minute
(ppm) for black and color text documents, a 4” x 6” borderless photo in as fast as 26 seconds, and up to 30 copies
per minute (cpm) for both black and color copies.1 The Epson NX400 also integrates a one-touch, stand-alone
copying and photo restoration feature for photos and documents, high-quality scanning, memory card slots,
PictBridge® compatibility, and a 2.5-inch tilt LCD screen for viewing, printing and restoring color to old photos
with or without a computer. In addition, the Epson NX400 includes the fun and easy-to-use Arcsoft Print
Creations™ software to create personalized greeting cards, invitations, calendars, and photo albums.
The 4-in-1 Epson Stylus NX300 is Epson’s first ever sub-$100 all-in-one with fax and an Auto Document Feeder
(ADF), making it an ideal productivity machine for the home. Its fast black draft print speeds and 30-page ADF
help consumers easily copy stacks of pages automatically, saving time and increasing efficiency. The Epson
NX300’s high-speed faxing includes convenient features, such as individual and 60-number group speed-dial lists,
automatic redial, auto answer, and up to 100 pages of fax memory. Additionally, the Epson NX300 includes
ABBYY FineReader® OCR software, allowing users to quickly convert printed documents into editable text.
The Epson Stylus NX100 and NX200 all-in-ones deliver crisp documents, vibrant photos, and useful scan and
copy capabilities for a wide variety of everyday printing, scanning and copying needs at exceptionally reasonable
prices. The Epson NX100 prints up to 26 ppm for black text documents, while the Epson NX200 produces even
faster black and color documents at up to 32 ppm. In addition, the Epson NX200 adds card slots and PictBridge
compatibility for PC-Free photo printing.
Features and performance shared across the Epson Stylus NX series include:
DURABrite Ultra ink: This all-pigment, instant-drying ink produces laser-quality text and brilliant color images on
plain, photo or specialty paper. The ink is smudge and water resistant to protect important documents2, offers fade
resistance up to six times longer than leading competitive prints3, and is highlighter-friendly on plain paper. Whether
consumers are printing important documents, Web pages, recipes, book reports, or creative projects, the DURABrite
Ultra ink delivers outstanding results.
Individual ink cartridges and one convenient set: Each all-in-one within the Epson Stylus NX series features four
individual ink cartridges to allow consumers to replace only the color needed. Additionally, having one standard ink
set for both documents and photos eliminates the need to switch cartridges based on various print jobs.
Affordable ink system: In addition to individual ink cartridges, the Epson Stylus NX series offers three types of ink
cartridges – moderate, standard and high capacity – to provide users with more options when choosing the cartridge
capacity that best fits their printing needs.
Epson’s award-winning MicroPiezo® print head technology: Epson’s unique print head features DX3™ technology
with smart nozzles that can produce and precisely place three sizes of ink droplets. As a result, fewer nozzles are
needed to quickly create exceptional photos and documents, making the nozzles more efficient than those that
can only produce one droplet size.
BorderFree® photo printing: The Epson Stylus NX series supports BorderFree photo printing in various sizes,
including 3.5” x 5”, 4” x 6”, 5” x 7”, 8” x 10”, and letter sizes, eliminating the need to trim perforations or white edges
on photos.
Double-sided printing built in: Each all-in-one in the Epson Stylus NX series offers two-sided printing built in through
the driver to automatically print all odd pages before the user is prompted to turn over the paper to print the even
pages.
Red-Eye reduction: Photos are no longer ruined by glaring, red eyes with the Epson Stylus NX series. Users can
automatically fix photos with red eyes through a convenient option in the driver.
Photo restoration: Consumers can restore colors in old, faded or discolored photos back to their original brilliance
through the drivers in the Epson Stylus NX series, making it easy to scan, restore, print, and share old memories.
Auto Photo Correction with advanced face detection: This innovative technology is similar to having a photo lab
technician built into the printer. It sharpens and corrects dark or poorly exposed images, while distinguishing people
from scenery to enhance skin tones and increase the richness of the scenery in photos.
ENERGY STAR compliant: The Epson Stylus NX series meets the strict ENERGY STAR guidelines set by the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. Epson is committed to producing
products that significantly lower power consumption, minimize pollution and reduce greenhouse gas emissions,
but without compromising quality.
Connectivity and Operating Systems
The Epson Stylus NX series supports USB 2.0 and is compatible with Windows Vista™, XP, XP Professional x64,
and 2000, as well as Macintosh® OS X 10.3.9, 10.4.x and 10.5.x.

Epson America Unveils Industry's First 1080p Resolution Front Projector
to Break $2,000 Price Mark
Epson Builds Upon Leadership Position as Number-One Selling Projector Brand Worldwide With New High-
Performance, High-Value 1080p PowerLite Home Cinema 6100
DENVER, Colo. – Sept. 4, 2008 – Continuing its long-established leadership role as the number one selling
projector brand worldwidei, Epson today announced the introduction of its latest 3LCD 1080p front projector,
the high-performance, and high-value PowerLite Home Cinema 6100. Redefining the price-to-performance
equation, the Home Cinema 6100 provides full 1920 x 1080 progressive high definition resolution at an amazing
$1,999 price point, bringing the big-screen high definition home theater experience to an even wider range of
consumers.
“Our goal is to drive the growth of the home theater market in a wide range of customer segments, bring incredible
big-screen experiences to first-time home entertainment consumers and to the most discerning AV elitists,” said
Rajeev Mishra, director, Projector Marketing and Development, Epson America. “The Home Cinema 6100 is
especially ideal for home theater enthusiasts, delivering the optimal balance of quality, performance, ease-of-use,
and flexibility at an outstanding value.”
At the heart of the Home Cinema 6100’s optical imaging engine is Epson’s latest-generation D7 high definition
resolution LCD technology. Unlike projectors which use a spinning color wheel with a white segment, 3LCD
technology delivers realistic, vibrant colors without the possibility of color break-up. This latest technology also
provides substantially improved contrast, reaching an incredible 18,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (a 50 percent
improvement over earlier models) to deliver brighter and more accurate whites and darker blacks.
Another contributing factor to the Home Cinema 6100’s increased contrast is its exclusive Dynamic Iris system,
which allows light to be controlled precisely on a frame-by-frame basis. This feature is especially ideal for projecting
fast-action movies that involve quick changing scenes. This is largely due to the Dynamic Iris system’s ability to
make automatic light output adjustments up to 120 times per second. The projector also features Epson’s exclusive
Cinema Filter that delivers a larger color space for improved color accuracy and a more film-like image. Epson has
also collaborated with Fujinon – the leading provider of precision optics to the digital film and HDTV camera industry -
to develop this projector’s unique OptiCinema™ multi-lens system. This feature projects clean, precise edges with
consistent image quality across the entire screen. It also gives users more options and flexibility in terms of where
they wish to install the projector.
The Home Cinema 6100’s light source uses a newly-updated E-TORL® (Epson Twin Optics Reflection Lamp), an
exclusive Epson design. Unlike off-the-shelf lamps, the ultra high efficiency E-TORL design provides optimum light
uniformity and is rated at 200 watts (compared to 170 watts with earlier models). This enables the projector to deliver
an incredible 1,800 lumens of white and color light output. It also allows the projector to be used with larger screen
sizes (greater than ten feet diagonal), while still providing a bright, impressive picture.
A significantly improved airflow system in the Home Cinema 6100 contributes to more efficient use of power,
reduced cool-down periods and lower fan speeds that result in quieter operation (only 22 db) than earlier models.
The airflow system also takes advantage of an advanced air filtration system that achieves up to 98 percent
efficiency which contributes to longer filter life.
The Home Cinema 6100 features numerous high definition inputs, including a high definition component video
input as well as two HDMI version 1.3a digital inputs. An S-video input and a composite video input are also
provided, along with a VGA-type RGB input (D-sub 15) to accept a wide variety of computer resolutions including
high definition, bringing the number of HD-compatible inputs to four.
Stylishly designed, the Home Cinema 6100 features a white casing with silver accents and a reversible Epson
logo on the front panel that can be reoriented for tabletop, shelf and ceiling mounting. An integrated cable hook
ensures that connections always remain solid and secure, while an optional rear panel cable cover fully encloses
the input panel to hide wiring.
Availability and Support
The Epson Home Cinema 6100 will be available in November through authorized Epson projector dealers and
select retail outlets for an estimated street price of $1,999. The projector also comes with the service and support
only Epson can offer, including a two-year limited warranty with toll-free access to PrivateLineSM, Epson’s priority
technical support, and free overnight exchange with ExtraCareSM Home Service.

Epson Begins Volume Production of High Performance 3-Channel 16-Bit
Analog Front End IC
TOKYO, Japan, March 27, 2008 - Seiko Epson Corporation ("Epson") today announced that it has developed
the S7R77024, a new 3-channel, 16-bit analog front end (AFE) capable of speeds of up to 75 mega-samples per
second, and higher copying speeds for MFPs (multi-functional peripherals) in the SOHO (small office home office)
environment. Volume production of this new product is expected to commence at the end of March 2008, with a
projected output of more than 50,000 units per month.
The S7R77024 incorporates a high-performance timing generator capable of controlling various types of CCD
(charge-coupled device) and CIS (conductor image sensor), and an LVDS (low-voltage differential signalling)
output function for image data output. Furthermore, Epson's own built-in automatic offset and gain adjustment
function enables ideal values to be easily set for input to each of the three channels independently.
Although the S7R77024 is a 3-channel product, it can be used with one or two channels, making it suited to a
wide variety of equipment, ranging from monochrome copying machines to color copying machines. For these
applications, the sampling rate (A/D converter rate) is 25 Msps for one channel; 50 Msps for two channels; and
75 MSPS for three channels. Moreover, as the image data format of the LVDS output can be changed as needed,
the S7R77024 facilitates the development of systems by making possible the use of various elements such as
enabling connection with existing SoC.
Incorporating these functions in the S7R77024 not only enables the MFP to achieve high reading speeds in excess
of 40 sheets per minute for color, but also reduces EMI, and makes it possible to provide a platform applicable to
monochrome copying machines as well as color copying machines, thereby significantly contributing to the
development of systems.
In conjunction with the release of the S7R77024, Epson will provide the S1R77084 LVDS Channel Link Receiver
as a companion chip to the product. The S1R77084 is a QFP-48-pin package that converts three LVDS data
streams back into 21-bit CMOS/TTL data to enable interfacing with SoC. Using the S1R77084 together with the
S7R77024 will substantially reduce EMI and the number of cables needed in the data transfer unit, and also
improve the reliability of data transfer.
For documents and other details related to the S7R77024 and S1R77084, please visit our website
at http://www.epson.jp/device/semicon_e/index.htm.
In order to continue to meet the various demands of its customers, Epson will expand its lineup of devices that
utilize its core technologies of Low Power Analog IP, Low Current Leakage Process, and Eco-friendly Power
Algorithm.
Features of the new product:
1. High-performance timing generator

Epson Starts Volume Production of HTPS TFT Panels Compatible
with SXGA+
- TOKYO, Japan, March 25, 2008 - Seiko Epson Corporation ("Epson") has begun volume production of
0.96 inch (2.54 cm diagonal) high-temperature polysilicon (HTPS) TFT panels for 3LCD front projectors compatible
with SXGA+.
The new panels use the latest D7 design rule process to achieve higher aperture ratios, allowing them to offer
SXGA+ resolution as well as increased brightness. Further, the panels make use of high light-resistant liquid crystal
material to ensure the greater light resistance also needed to increase brightness.
Due to such factors as the increasingly common practice of making presentations at companies and the growing
trend of using IT in the education market, the data projector market is expected to continue to expand at an
annual rate of approximately 15% (projection based on market research by Epson).
The growth in the uses of data projectors has led to demands for higher resolution and wider displays, as well as
for greater brightness to meet the increasing needs presented by the use of data projectors in a wide range of
situations. In order to respond to these market demands, Epson has been continuously engaged in efforts for
commercialization of panels with higher aperture ratios using its own original high aperture process technology
called the D series which was developed based on the process technology of each generation.
The use of D7 process technology has increased the aperture ratio to 77%, a boost of 43% over that produced
by currently existing process technology. As a result, where a 0.96-inch SXGA+ panel using conventional
process technology produced product luminance of 3,000 to 3,500 lm, the new panel is able to achieve product
luminance of 4,000 to 5,000 lm. Due to the greater brightness, luminous intensity per unit area of the panel also
increased. The light quantity per unit area, which is 11.71 lm/mm2 when the luminance is 3,500 lm, increased
42% to 16.71 lm/mm2 when the luminance is 5,000 lm.
In order to achieve greater brightness, it is important to increase brightness by increasing the aperture ratio, and
also to realize greater light resistance so as to enable the product to withstand light of stronger intensity.
The 0.96-inch SXGA+ panels being put into volume production will satisfy the needs of the market for higher
resolution and greater brightness by employing panels based on D7 process technology, and by utilizing LCD
materials that further improve light resistance.
Plans call for the lineup of products utilizing this high light-resistant liquid crystal material to be expanded and
released on the market.
Features of the new panels
Aperture ratio of 77% (143% of currently existing panel) achieved for 0.96-inch SXGA (1400 x 1050) employing
D7 process technology
Possible to further increase brightness by using high light-resistant liquid crystal material
Plans call for dedicated optical compensator (optional) to be provided for enhancing contrast
